Audio Engineering Internship – Bravo! Vail
In the summer of 2024, I had the incredible opportunity to serve as an Audio Engineering Intern at the Bravo! Vail Music Festival, one of North America's premier classical music festivals. Located in Vail, CO, Bravo! Vail hosts world-renowned orchestras, including the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, The Philadelphia Orchestra, the New York Philharmonic, Sinfónica de Minería, and a number of talented small groups and solo performers.
During my time at the festival, I played a key role in the setup and operation of live sound, recording systems, and lighting for concerts and special events. Working with high-end audio equipment, I was responsible for microphone setup, patching, and maintenance, ensuring optimal sound quality for a diverse range of performances. I also managed archival recordings, mixing, and mastering, contributing to the preservation of these performances for future audiences.
In addition to handling technical stage requirements, I interpreted and executed stage plots, input lists, and orchestral instrumentation needs, working closely with production teams to ensure seamless concert execution. My role extended beyond traditional venues, as I conducted location recordings and assisted with mobile stage deployments, adapting to different acoustic environments throughout the Vail Valley.
The internship also involved significant logistical coordination, including the transportation and maintenance of audio equipment across multiple venues, ensuring operational efficiency in a fast-paced, high-profile setting.
Through this experience, I deepened my expertise in live sound engineering and recording, gained hands-on experience working with some of the world’s finest orchestras, and developed problem-solving skills essential for high-caliber live event production. The opportunity to collaborate with industry professionals in such a prestigious festival setting was both inspiring and instrumental in my growth as an audio engineer.
